Familiarizing myself with plants has become my way of getting to know a bigger landscape.
Whenever I visit new places, among architecture and cultural specifics, my attention is drawn to local plants. Usually they are largely ignored by tourists and even locals are too used to their presence. I collect the leaves, and sometimes flowers, and print them on the textiles to make a unique imprint of the place. It is almost like making a photograph or assembling a botanical album. I often upcycle textiles and use thrift clothes as my canvas. By doing so I want to not only remind of nature's beauty, but also draw attention to the forgotten craftsmanship of natural dyeing, and that it is a much more sustainable approach than fast fashion habits we inherit with the era we are born to.
I aim to return the human to its natural environment even in a big city.
